Review:

As far as videos designed to educate young, pre-school aged children, the Baby Einstein series has always been one of the most popular and effective. It's been a decade since this series launched, and in that relatively short time, it has become one of the most popular teaching tools for toddlers. DVDs released in this series cover a variety of different subjects to educate youngsters. ***

Baby's First Sounds, the latest addition to this multi-million dollar franchise, delivers what it promises. This is a presentation designed to help infants and toddlers to form a variety of sounds, which become the building blocks for forming words, and eventually sentences. The DVD helps young children with the basics, and gradually works them up to slightly more complex activities using what they've already learned. ***

If you're the parent of an infant or toddler, the Baby Einstein series is an essential leaning tool, to help get them on the right track for their forthcoming school days. Everything is broken down in a manner so that your child will learn plenty of new material, but they won't be overloaded with it so much that they don't learn. ***

As effective as this disc is (and I AM recommending it), there is an issue that needs to be addressed - price. The MSRP of this disc is $20, and you only get a single, half-hour presentation. I don't see why Disney can't just combine multiple Baby Einstein programs onto a single disc and sell them that way, it would be more affordable and convenient to potential buyers (but I guess Disney wants to make as much money as possible here by releasing the programs separately.) Take my advice - shop around for the best deal before you lay your cash down. ---

Image And Sound:

These DVDs utilize bright, radiant colors that will keep your youngster's attention - and they look fantastic on the DVD format. The sound effects are all audible without any major issues, and the music used on the DVD has no major sound issues, and will sound great on your TV.

Special Features:

Nothing too substantial here apart from a few VERY minor featurettes. There are a few little things here that you might want to let your youngster experience once or twice, but really, there just isn't anything too substantial or on the same level as the feature itself.

Final Words:

This DVD is a fantastic learning tool for infants and toddlers - if you have some, this is well worth owning. But be sure to shop around for the best deal first, as the MSRP is much too steep for a 30-minute presentation.
