“National Lampoon’s Barely Legal ”
Reviewer:
Wayne A. Klein
Studio: MGM/UA
Genre: Comedy
Release:
1/2406
Special Features: Extended scenes, previews
Review:

The National Lampoon logo used to mean quality funny material was on the way. That’s before an endless stream of increasingly bad movies cheapened the name. Sure there’s still plenty of T&A in the movies as well as cheap jokes about When three high school students decide to make their own porno movie they get much more than they bargain for. There’s not much here unless you’re on the cusp of puberty or in high school. ---

Image & Sound:

“Barely Legal” looks quite good in this anamorphic widescreen presentation. Colors aren’t quite as vibrant as I would have expected but the overall image quality is quite pleasing. The 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround format isn’t used all that well here with most of the action placed in the center and front speakers.

Special Features: We get the usual assortment of trailers and also a number of extended scenes.

Final Words:

Really this is a waste of time for most viewers. It’ll probably be quite funny to most 15 year old boys wishing to make their own porno movie. The T&A is the only attraction for the unrated edition. I’d suggest looking for something else on the shelf. The comedy is barely there in this lame excuse for a movie.
