Review:

Five years of time is lost at the conclusion of the fourth season of "Desperate Housewives". It seems to be all the rage now to jump into the future skipping over major events. ***

Katherine Mayfair (Dana Delany) joins the cast becoming a rival to Bree in all things leading to a nasty confrontation andů.food poisoning. Lynette (Felicity Huffman) develops Lymphoma and it seems Gabrielle (Longoria Parker) STILL can't get Carlos out of her system and her life even though she's married to Victor (Vincent Slattery) a local politician. As all things do eventually come . We won't even discuss what's up with Orson, Mike or Susan although sleepwalking in the nude does factor in for one of these characters. ***

Every one has an off year and the second season of "Desperate Housewives" was their off-year. The show hops back on the horse and rides into an abbreviated but fun fourth season. ---

Image & Sound:

As with previous seasons, Buena Vista presents us with a nice, crisp and colorful series of DVDs. This show has always looked particularly good in its DVD incarnation. *** Audio sounds fine with a nice 5.1 mix. ---

Special Features:

We get a number of interesting commentary tracks for this season, deleted scenes and bloopers. There are also profiles of some of the more popular characters on the show. We also get a nice featurette on the "Men of Wisteria Lane". This is as usual a nice set that has some good special features but the main attraction really is the commentary tracks which allow the talent to dish on what really happened onset. ***

"Couples Commentary" features the actors that play married/involved couples on the show commenting together on episodes. It's a clever idea. ***

"Getting Desperate from Beginning to End" a featurette that focuses on the "Tornado" episode. It allows us to see from beginning to end how the episode was put together including the casting, writing and direction of the episode. ---

Final Words:

Fans will be pleased with the fourth season set for "Desperate Housewives" and it arrives just in time for the premiere of the fifth season of the show. Let's hope the leap forward brings us plenty of humor, suspense and backstabbing as we've come to expect from this show.
