“The Dukes of Hazzard-The Complete Sixth Season”
Wayne A. Klein
Studio: Sony
Genre: TV-Series
Special Features: “Back Where We Started: The Real Hazzard County”, “The General Lee: The Legendary Charger”

The sixth season of “The Dukes of Hazzard” kicks off with a number of unusual episodes and while this season isn’t a complete success fans of the show will find that there’s more winning episodes than stinkers in the mix here. During the fifth season Coy and Vance Duke replaced Bo and Luke as stars Tom Wopat and John Schneider went on strike for a higher paycheck. Although the sixth season wasn’t a return to form the show still had a good amount of life in it.

Image & Sound:

Presented in its full screen glory “Dukes” looks good here but could look a whole lot better. Edge enhancement rears its ugly head quite a few times and it’s clear that the prints used for the transfers here aren’t always in pristine condition. Still for a show that’s 30 years old “Dukes” looks pretty darn good over all. Audio is mono without any sort of enhancement. Dialogue is crisp and clear. ---

Special Features: “Back Where We Started” gives us a tour of the locations in Georgia used as a backdrop for the series. “The General Lee: The Legendary Charger” provides fans with a background on the series other star the Dodge Charger that the Duke boys rode around in. Both are solid featurettes.

Final Words:

Clearly running out of ideas the sixth season still had enough life in it to make “Dukes” an entertaining ride for fans. With the return of Wopat and Schneider full time to the series “Dukes” continued its successful run on CBS providing another ratings juggernaut for the eye network.
