The seventh season of "The Dukes of Hazzard" was the
last for the series. It was a bit of a come down for fans
despite some enjoyable episodes. The seventh season features
a nice tribute to Waylon Jennings in an episode where his
traveling museum shows up and two criminals decide to steal
it. Of course the Dukes come to the rescue. We also get
a number of pun laden titles that show up to illustrate
humor and, perhaps, just how far the show has fallen (it
all depends upon how low a form of humor punning is. Personally
I consider the pinnacle of depravity and debauchery). ---
Image & Sound: The show is presented in its full screen
original presentation. Colors are nice and image quality
is quite good with nice clarity. There are some issues with
digital artifacts that crop up now and again (edge enhancement.no
it has nothing to do with those ads about male enhancement)
and aliasing (no this doesn't imply that Jennifer Garner
makes a guest appearance on the show nor that it has anything
to do with this series). Audio is clear enough to pick out
those faux accents a mile away. Actually audio sounds fine
allowing the dialogue to come through loud and clear but,
more importantly, we get to hear all the tire squealing
during the case sequences in absolutely stunning mono detail.

Warner has provided a couple of nice extras here. Most
studios would just release this bare bones but not the studio
that seems to care for just about every series they put
out. We get a very nice tribute featurette on Waylon Jennings
featuring his widow, Catherine Bach, Tom Wopat, John Schneider
and the series creator. It's a nice tribute to the late
outlaw of country music. We also get see the three stars
cover the series theme and a brief "making of" featurette
about this project.

Final Words:
|
Although it lacks any worthwhile
commentary tracks the extras are nice additions to a fine
looking transfer (despite some minor digital flaws). Audio
comes across nice and clear and we all the original uncut
episodes as they originally aired. Even though this isn't
the best season of the show it has enough highlights to please
fans. |
