The Review:

Before "ER", "Emergency" was the most realistic evening TV medical drama on TV. We live in a different more jaded world now so if you're new to this series and find it a bit naive keep in mind this fine TV show was created and produced 33 years ago. We get the first season (which was brief only 11 episodes) including the two part pilot episode. If you're a fan of this TV series that ran for 5 years on NBC, get to your local DVD dealer stat! Paramedics Gage and DeSoto are back in gear and ready to go in this two disc set. ---

Image and Sound: A very nice transfer from Universal. Fine line detail is pretty decent in many of these episodes and the colors remain vivid as ever. Blacks are solid if not spectacular and although there is occasional video noise, it's pretty minimal. The mono soundtrack has its limitations but doesn't prevent you from enjoying the drama of the show or following the plot.
The Extras:

None

Commentary: None
Final Words: Fans will be happy to see this series finally on DVD. While I do wish that Universal had sprung for some extras with this series, it's nice to have the show sans commercial interruptions. Image quality is pretty good overall.
