"Emergency: Season Three"
Reviewer:
Wayne Klein
Studio: Universal Home Video
Genre: TV-Series
Release:
2/6/07
Special Features: None
Review:

As with previous seasons Jack Webb's "Emergency!" manages to pack plenty good natured action into a full season of wholesome entertainment. While the show may lack the melodramatic quality of "ER", the retro charm of the series continues to resonate. Fans will be pleased with the set here although once again Universal has let us down with a lack of special features. ***

As fans know the show focuses on paramedics Johnny Gage (Randolph Mantooth) and Roy DeSoto (Kevin Tighe) who work out of Station 51. Their interaction with the hospital staff including Dr. Early (Bobby Troup) and Dr. Brackett (Robert Fuller) is interesting. ---

Image & Sound:

As with the previous seasons the show looks pretty decent with nice colors (although they have faded somewhat) and remarkably good clarity considering the age of the show. There are occasional bits of dirt and debris that pop up but overall the series looks quite nice. Sound is equally as nice with the original mono mix intact. Dialogue comes through crisp and clean. ---

Special Features:

Beyond some preview trailers for other Universal products, there aren't any.

Final Words:

It's a pity that Universal has limited their special features only to shows like "The Rockford Files" (and even those extras were marginal) but they have spend most of the budget for this show in cleaning up the series and presenting good, solid transfers. Fans will be pleased with the presentation.
