"Emergency" Season 4
Reviewer:
Taylor Carlson
Studio: Universal
Genre: TV Series
Release:
1/29/08
Special Features: None
Review:

Emergency returns for another season on DVD. Produced by Jack Webb of Dragnet fame, the series follows the careers of paramedics, as well as their relations with the staff of the hospital they work out of. It's a classic television drama, and has certainly aged better than other products of its era. ***

The DVD contains 22 episodes, divided amongst five discs. Guest starts in the show's fourth season include Erik Estrada (CHiPs) and Adam West (Batman.) Every episode is a classic. ---

Image And Sound:

Not too different from earlier sets. For the most part, the image is clear and clean, but many of the colors show signs of fading, and there are the occasional pops and hisses. Still, it's not bad considering the show's three-decade age. Audio is presented in the original mono mix, and you'll have no difficulty hearing or understanding the dialogue.

Special Features:

None whatsoever, unless you count trailers for other Universal shows as extras. Why they couldn't hunt down the cast and record some commentaries or interviews is beyond me. Even vintage TV spots/commercials/etc. and the like would have been better than nothing.

Final Words:

It's yet another terrific season of Emergency, although many fans, this one included, are still turned off at the lack of special features. Just the same, go ahead and add it to your collection if you're a fan.
