Although a delightful comedy, it seems a bit premature
to re-release this movie. Why is it out there then? That’s
because “Kronk’s New Groove” will be coming to market shortly.
Originally developed as a more straight forward musical
entitled “Kingdom of the Sun” “The Emperor’s New Groove”
benefits from a breezy score composed by Sting and very
funny performances by David Spader, Eartha Kitt, Patrick
Warburton and John Goodman. The witty and rapid paced direction
by Mark Dindal (“Chicken Little”) keeps things fun and loose.

This edition doesn’t provide
all that much that’s different from the previous edition.
Although this has a director/producer commentary track and
a “Behind-the-Scenes” featurette both of these were available
on the previous deluxe 2 disc edition of the movie. |

Final Words:
|
The previous edition of this
classic movie looked and sounded just as great. Why mess with
perfection? This new edition doesn’t improve all that much
on the old. My advice is to save your money for something
else. |
