Review:

Greek is a teen drama that premiered on ABC Family last year, and it has quickly begun to gather a following. A 10-episode first season of the show has aired, and with the positive reception, it has been renewed for a second. ***

The show follows a younger brother, Rusty, and older sister, Casey, attending the same college. Rusty has just begun attending college, and Casey insists he remain low on the social ladder, as she doesn't want anything to hinder her chances of becoming president of a fraternity.... but from there non-stop drama ensues for both of them. ***

Not everyone is going to enjoy Greek - this is clearly a show aimed at teens. But as far as teen dramas go, this is one of the best ones to come along is quite some time. This genre is nothing new, and many attempts of recent years have been hit and miss…. But Greek hits the spot. The show always feels authentic, and features an all-star cast, including Jacob Zachar, Scott Foster, Spencer Grammer, Jake McDorman, and Dilshad Vadsaria. ***

The set includes all 10 episodes from the show's first season, spanning 3 discs. Episodes included are as follows: Pilot, Hazed and Confused, the Rusty Nail, Picking Teams, Liquid Courage, Friday Night Fights, Multiple Choice, Separation Anxiety, Depth Perception, and Black and White and Read All Over. --

Image And Sound:

A nice transfer to the DVD format. As a fairly recent show, the image quality has very few issues, and most of them are so small you won't even notice. Sound also fares well in the transfer to DVD, all of the dialogue (which the good majority of this show's sound consists of) is all loud and clear, and easy to understand. ---

Special Features:

Some features have been included on the DVD - not a substantial number, but it's better treatment than most shows on DVD tend to get. There are deleted scenes from numerous episodes which you should definitely watch if you're a fan, as well as commentaries for the episodes. We also get a sneak peek at the forthcoming second season, which considering the quality of what we got in this set, looks promising, as well as a behind-the-scenes featurette. Lastly, an extended music sequence is included, though this is really nothing special. Hopefully there will be plenty of bonus features in future sets, as well.

Final Words:

I won't lie - not everyone is going to enjoy this series. But if it's an authentic, entertaining teen drama you seek, you've come to the right place. Greek stands as one of the finest entries in this genre in quite some time.
