Sammy Hagar-what a showman! The former Van Halen/Montrose
front man and solo artist has put out another concert video.
We get a solid collection of Hagar solo songs as well as
key Van Halen hit singles. Joined for part of the show by
former Van Halen bassist (the only other member of the band
that showed up for the band's induction into the Rock 'n'
Roll Hall of Fame), Hagar is in fine form in a fun often
funny concert that demonstrates why Hagar continues to have
a solid following nearly 30 years after his debut album
with Montrose. ***
The band is in top notch form pumping out killer live
versions of many Hagar solo classics. Sammy also does some
nice guitar dueling as well on the video. I was surprised
30 years into his career how great his voice still sounds.
After all the touring, Tequilla and hard living he's done,
that's quite an accomplishment. The set list: Mas Tequila,
Mexico, There's Only One Way to Rock, Rainy Day Women (#12/#35),
The Girl Gets Around, Rock Candy, I'll Fall in Love Again,
I'll Take You There, Sam I Am, Little White Lie, I Can't
Drive 55, Heavy Metal, Good Enough, Summer Nights, Right
Now, Finish What You Started, Best of Both Worlds, Fight
for Your Right, Cabo Wabo ---
Image & Sound:
The image part of this was a bit dicey with pixilation
problems all over the place. That only happened during the
concert portion of the video. Audio sounded pretty good
overall with some strange distortion when listening to the
2.0 mix. I'm not sure if it is because I received a defective
disc or not. ---
