Review: |
Well the Democrats blew it again.
The National Convention highlighted what knuckle-heads we
have running for office. Really, they should have nominated
the tag team of Hercules and Iolaus. Look at their credentials;
they’ve fought in wars, monsters and, hey, they even defied
the gods. Now can John Kerry say that? Sure he fought in Vietnam
but when was the last time he stood up to one of the gods
or said a series of back to back bad puns? Never! I rest my
case. ***
Hercules returns in a star studded
action packed season full of great highlights. What does he
do here that he hasn’t done in other seasons? Plenty! Unfortunately,
not much of it revolves around Hercules as star Kevin Sorbo
suffered an aneurysm that limited his mobility during part
of this season. Still, it did make for some strange and inspired
episodes. “Porkules” parodies the movie “Babe” as Hercules
is changed into a pig by Discord. We also see a number of
movie homages and parodies. We also get a couple of crossover
episodes with the characters of Xena and Gabrielle showing
up. ---

and Sound: |
Herc’s defined
muscles look great. I can see every strand of hair on Sorbo’s
head. Need I say more? Actually, the definition and sharpness
of these discs are very, very good. Color reproduction captures
the vivid colors of New Zealand. Who would have thought that
Greece could be so colorful, so vibrant so...tropical looking?
The stereo sound mix sounds particularly nice and comes across
bright and clear. --- |

Extras: |
We get
a marvelous feature on the work of the effects group. We also
get behind the scenes interviews, photos, bios on actors/directors
involved in the series. There’s also production drawings provided
as well.

| Commentary:

We also get
a couple of really good commentaries by stars Sorbo and Michael
Hurst. |
| Final
Words: |
I’ll vote
for Herc provided he can prove that he’s a US Citizen. I’m sure
he can bring the nation back to the family values we’ve come
to expect from the Democrats. He’s in perfect health (hey, he’d
have to be he’s half god after all). He has a few skeletons
in his closet (his dad Zeus wasn’t married to his Mom and, to
top it off, his step-mother Hera wanted to kill him at one point)
but, well, don’t we all! Plus he comes providing us with detailed
info on his legendary journeys. What more could you ask for?
