"I Love Lucy: Seasons 7, 8 & 9"
Reviewer:

Studio: Paramount Home Video
Genre: TV-Series
Release:
3/13/07
Special Features: Rare home movies from the set, full length Havana episodes, deleted scenes, flubs, 3 Ford Motor Co. Commericals
Review:

A full year after the sixth season, we get the final 13 episodes produced for the "Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour". These are the rarest of all "Lucy" episodes and haven't been seen in syndication as much as the first six seasons of the show. In many respects, this is almost like a spin-off series just with the same characters as the format had changed somewhat. These episodes aired from 1957 to 1960 and continued the adventures of Lucy, Ricky and their son Ricky Jr. ---

Image & Sound:

The show looks quite good as with all the other episodes. I'm not surprised given that these are the least seen of the episodes produced for the series. Image quality is crisp and audio comes across with nice presence considering the primitive technology of the time. ---

Special Features:

We get the original uncut "Havana" episodes which haven't been seen since their original broadcast. There are also deleted scenes, flubs, three original Ford Motor Co. commercials (they sponsored the show) and rare home movie footage of the set shot in color. As usual all of the extras are as top notch as the studio could make them given how old the materials are. ---

Final Words:

This will complete any "Lucy" fan's collection. Unlike a lot of releases, we continue to get nice bonus material and a set a reasonable price for fans. I have to give kudos to Paramount (and the Ball estate) for making sure that these sets adequately represent Lucille Ball and Desi Arnez's legacy
