JAG returns for another season on DVD. With its share
of military action and courtroom law drama, this was one
of the finest TV series out there during its run. The sixth
season continues the reign of excellence for the series.
Whether you watch for the military atmosphere lacked by
so many shows like this, or for the gripping, realistic
courtroom drama, this is yet another season that doesn't
fail to please. ***
This season is definitely one of the finest for the
series. Star David James Elliott is back in fine form, and
the sixth set of the series has a number of excellent guest
stars, including Corbin Benson, Gina Hecht, and Trisha Yearwood.
Twenty-four episodes total are featured in the set, divided
amongst six discs. ***
Episodes featured in the set: Legacy Part 1, Legacy
Part 2, Florida Straits, Flight Risk, JAG TV, Princess and
the Petty Officer, Separate Peace Part 1, Separate Peace
Part 2, Family Secrets, Touch and Go, Baby It's Cold Outside,
Collision Course, Miracles, Killer Instinct, Iron Coffin,
Retreat Hell, Valor, Liberty, Salvation, To Walk on Wings,
Past Tense, Lifeline, Mutiny, and Adrift Part 1. ***
As with the previous few seasons, not to mention several
other TV show DVDs they release, Paramount has included
a disclaimer on the back of the package stating that some
shows may have been edited from the original broadcast.
I wish they would have been more specific here, and stated
what has been edited. How hard is it to say what's been
changed? ---
Image And Sound:
Earlier Jag season sets were fullscreen. The fifth
season changed all this and began showing the series in
anamorphic widescreen, the same of which applies to the
sixth. The picture quality is very good - some minor grain
here and there but nothing substantially negative. Sound
quality is good, and the dialogue is always clear. ---
