The Review: Being one of the first television shows in history to showcase African-Americans in prominent form, "The Jeffersons" set a new precedent in television, paving the way for future series like "The Cosby Show" and "Sanford and Son." Given its start from various episodes of the ever-popular "All in the Family," "The Jeffersons" takes us to an "apartment in the sky," where we become acquainted with the lives of couple George and Louisa "Wheezy" Jefferson, their outrageous neighbors Helen and Tom Willis, their son Lionel, Mother Jefferson, and the always humorous maid Florence. With continuous humor and introspective looks at the treatment of African Americans in our society at that time, "The Jeffersons" became a landmark series That remains cherished by many even today.
Image and Sound Like "All in the Family's" first season, this one is given a pretty horrid transfer, with distorted picture and sound mastered only in mono.
The Extras Not a lot of extras here, with the exception of some notes on the episodes, and the lyrics to the theme song.
Commentary None
Final Words: I'm sure if anyone loves "The Jeffersons, they'll be more than willing to shell out the money for this release, despite the lack of special features.
