Here’s the scenario: It’s a rainy
Sunday afternoon, and you ask yourself, “What should I do?”
Well, here’s the answer. Pick up a film called, “Jersey Girl.”
It is a run of the mill romantic comedy that would fit perfectly
on Lifetime: Television for Women. “Jersey Girl” is fun to
watch because it is very formulaic. I know it might sound
strange, but the film’s predictability is enjoyable. ***
The story is simple. Toby (Jami
Gertz) is a sassy gal from New Jersey, who wants more in her
life. She decides to find the “perfect” guy, by heading into
Manhattan to snag a fella. Toby, literally, crashes into a
suave named Sal (Dylan McDermott) and stalking ensues! Sal
finally agrees to go out with Toby after his upscale girlfriend
insults his station in life… you see, he’s from Brooklyn!
Toby tries to fit in with the Manhattan set and alienates
her father and friends. As per usual, Sal dumps her; realizes
he needs her (not money) and tries to win her back. But, will
she have him back after she has realized her own self worth?!
I think you know the answer…isn’t that great! ***

The DVD for
“Jersey Girl” is decent. The image quality is average, the picture
gets a bit washed out at times, but there’s nothing unviewable.
The sound is ok, not great, but the clarity is good. The image
and sound would be perfect if this film was intended for television.

Words: |
If you like
romantic comedies, you will appreciate “Jersey Girl.” Jami Gertz
is adorable as Toby and is an underused talent in film. Also,
look for many supporting actors that have transitioned into
well known TV stars from shows like, “Third Watch.” |
