Review: |
Death, maiming and toilets that
don’t flush right might not seem like the themes for a comedy
series but “King of the Hill” once again expertly takes on
things lesser shows would never consider and pokes fun at
them. OK, well maybe toilets not flushing correctly might
be the fodder for an animated comedy but I haven’t seen “The
Simpsons” tackle that one yet. Hank and his family returns
in the fourth season set for “King of the Hill”. Whether you’re
like Peggy and become obsessed that your feet are too big
or having your haircut screwed up by your barber (of course
it happens to Hank), “King of the Hill” tackles the little
things that matter most to all of us. ---

and Sound: |
Once again
Fox has done an outstanding job with a top notch vivid transfer
of the series. The blacks are rock solid and the colors brighter
than that strangely multi-colored shirt you’ve got hidden in
your closet. The sound doesn’t have a hint of compression and
the dialogue, most importantly, is crystal clear as the lake
where Bobby accidentally sees his cousin Luanne naked for the
first (and last) time. --- |

Extras: |
What are
those? They’re reserved for bigger selling titles like “The
Simpsons”. Sadly, the first season didn’t sell enough to justify
the budget for extras like we saw on the first season. Actually,
I’m quite happy that Fox moved forward with releasing this
series on DVD in the first place given the slow moving (but
steady) sales of the first season set. ---

Well Hank
Hill’s comments at the end of every episode really say it all,
doesn’t it? |
| Final
Words: |
A terrific
series continues with great transfers from Fox. While I really
wish there were some extras on succeeding sets, I have the feeling
that hope is in vain. Sadly, “King of the Hill” doesn’t sell
as well as “The Simpsons” or even Futurama” (which is surprising).
That’s too bad as “King of the Hill” is every bit as funny as
both those shows. |
