Review:

This is a beautiful, romantic movie with one of the most original storylines that I have seen in awhile. This movie tells the story of Alex (Keanu Reeves) and Kate (Sandra Bullock) in their first movie together since the mega hit Speed. Although the storyline starts a little hard to follow the basic idea is that these two star crossed people live on the same day but exactly two years apart. Impossible? Of course. Crazy? Perhaps, but they really pull it off. Most of the movie is told through letter correspondence between Alex and Kate from letters left in the mailbox at the Lakehouse. Kate is a Chicago doctor who moves out of the lakehouse to Chicago, and Alex is an architect in a remote lakeside suburb. Her in the year 2006, him in 2004.*****

These two actors have great chemistry together. They were both lonely but likeable. For anyone who was a fan of the Dennis Quaid movie Frequency this is the movie for you. You have to suspend reality and just go along for the ride. You have to accept there is no reason why, it just is. I dare not say more about the plot in fear of giving something away. There are a few strong supporting cast members to look out for as well, Dylan Walsh from Nip/Tuck and Shohreh Aghdashloo from the fourth season of 24.

Image and Sound:

There was nothing spectacular about the picture images or sound. The cinematography was very visual, some of my favorite scenes were with Kate and Alex supposedly at the same place on the same screen, just two years apart. There were no need for flashy special effects, the beauty is in the story. Presented in letterbox widescreen format.

Special Features:

Nothing great about the special features. There are five deleted scenes and outtakes, which is really one outtake scene and four deleted scenes that last about three minutes for all four of them. Other than that there is just the original theatrical trailer.

Final Words:

I loved this movie. It is not just a typical romance. There is plenty of sappy moments but the story is interesting enough to keep a man's attention. Don't expect for it to happen all at once, wait for it, it's worth it.
