Review: |
22 episodes of “Lizzie McGuire”
make be too much for most parents to take but luckily most
tween fans will be able to sit through this entertaining series
without a single bathroom break. The first season of Disney’s
hit TV show “Lizzie McGuire” arrives on DVD with more bonuses
than the average TV series. Follow Lizzie, Miranda and Gordo
as they get in and out of trouble to great pop music and flashy
visual styles. ---

and Sound: |
A nice,
bright transfer for “Lizzie McGuire”. Although it isn’t something
that your tweens are going to watch for the rest of their lives
(then again your tweens won’t be tweens for that long), they’ll
probably come back to it later just as you did with your fav
episodes of “Scooby Doo”. The sound has considerable presence
and enough bass to satisfy the dancing fool in the house (if
that’s you and you’re a parent just don’t get caught!) --- |
| The
Extras: |
“Lizzie”
comes complete with three Featurettes on the series. “The
Cast Dishes the Dirt” the supporting cast discuss working
on the show, the jokes they used to play on each other on
the set and some of the funniest moments off screen. “Get
the Lizzie Look” will definitely hurt Dad’s and Mom’s pocketbook
as we follow around the costume designer on the show as they
shop around Beverly Hills to pull the fashionable look of
the series together. “Makeup and Hair Secrets of the Stars”
features cast member Ashlie Brillault as she visits a Beverly
Hills salon. We learn about the secrets of tinseltown which
just about every tween girl will eat up. ---

| Commentary:
|
I was surprised
that Disney provided commentary tracks on this series. Considering
that the target audience might not care about such stuff, they’ve
provided extra value for fans with cast members on three episodes.
The best of the lot is the fun filled commentary by Ashlie Brillault
on “Night of the Day of the Dead” . Equally interesting and
funny is Clayton Snyder’s commentary on “I Do, I Don’t” and
finally get a third commentary on “Rated Argh!” a very funny
episode that has a complimentary commentary by cast member Lalaine.
Sadly, no commentary tracks or appearances by star Hilary Duff
herself but she was probably well beyond all this by the time
this was prepared for release on DVD. |
| Final
Words: |
Now that
the series has finally come to an end, having this boxed set
might guarantee more chores get done in the house. You’ll be
able to withhold episodes and TV time based on whether or not
your kids did what they were supposed to. We’ll keep that our
little secret. |
