“MacGyver: The Complete Fourth Season”
Reviewer:
Wayne A. Klein
Studio: Paramount
Genre: Action
Release:
12/6/05
Special Features: None
Review:

Murdoc (Michael Des Barres) returns to try and take out MacGyver (Richard Dean Anderson) during the fourth season of the popular action series. The fourth season also sees the return of Penny (Terry Hatcher) as well as the ever popular Jack Dalton (played by Bruce McGill). While we still don’t get any extras with this set, Paramount has priced this set attractively for fans f the show. Given the popularity of Anderson and his last series “Stargate SG1”, I’m a bit surprised that Paramount continues to issue no frills sets such as these. This season looks about the same as the last with a bit of debris but the overall image quality is pretty decent overall. Dialogue comes across pretty well although the sound mix is occasionally flat and muddy sounding. ---

Special Features: Beyond the usual TV trailers there’s nothing being offered here in the way of special features.

Final Words:

I’m not sure why Paramount has taken the Universal approach to many of their TV shows. “MacGyver” has a fanatical following and Richard Dean Anderson has a large fan base so its not as if this show wouldn’t merit being upgraded with special features or commentary tracks. At the very least, Paramount could offer the original season ending blooper reels.
