One of the few bands that could combine elements of
pub rock along with elements of prog rock, Man's 1976 final
show at The Roundhouse presents the band in top form. The
band which included Terry Williams (later drummer for Dire
Straits replacing original Straits drummer Pick Withers).
We get six songs from the show along with an interview with
the band. It's far from the perfect concert show but what
we do get is extremely good including performances of "Let
The Good Times Roll", "7171-661", "Babe, I'm Gonna Leave
You", "C'Mon", "Born with a Future", "Bananas". This is
really more a documentary on the band's last performance
including footage of the road crew setting up, an interview
with their manager and other footage taken from the same
time. ---
Image & Sound:
Shot on film the footage has faded badly with flesh
tones poorly represented, the images are quite soft as well.
It's clear that there wasn't any restoration attempts here
(I doubt there was a budget for it). The image is grainy
and there is all sorts of scratches, bits of dirt that crop
up. Could it have been better? Sure but fans should be happy
that this is even available. The mono audio isn't the best
either but at least the music and dialogue comes across
with nice clarity. ---
