“Married With Children: Season Seven”

Review:

Cartoons like "The Simpsons" and "Family Guy" can run for season after season, with the same family dynamics intact. Seventeen years after his debut, Bart Simpson is still in grade school. Unfortunately for live action sitcoms, real life kids grow up. And as kids become teenagers and teenagers become adults, shows lose the recipes for comedy that made them successful in the first place. So what do they do? Usually, they bring in a new kid. I think the "Cosby Show" did this three or four times. All of which is a long-winded way of saying that season seven of "Married With Children" introduces a new kid to the cast, a boy named Seven. According to www.jumptheshark.com, the majority of those polled think the introduction of Seven marked the beginning of the end for the show. And yes, Seven is annoying. The creators seemed to realize this, and wrote him out as abruptly as they brought him in.

What else is in season seven? More of the miserable life of shoe salesman Al Bundy, and his obnoxious family. Al becomes a topless bartender, Kelly gets a motorcycle, and Bud forms a fraternity. All the characters continue to make wisecracks. Despite the inclusion of the widely-hated Seven, season seven is business as usual for the Bundys. Personally, I got tired of it after the first couple of seasons, but if you enjoy the show, you'll find plenty to laugh at here. Image & Sound: All episodes are presented in their original full screen format. Picture quality and sound are of average quality.

Special Features:

Like this show's previous boxed sets, this set has no special features.

Final Words:

Since casual viewers can catch this show in reruns, these DVD boxed sets are for the truly dedicated fans. I feel bad for those fans, though, that they don't have more in the way of special features to entice them.
