The Review: Now here's an odd DVD if there ever was one. Not that anyone who likes "Married with Children" is going to be complaining about owning the episodes, but why not ALL the episodes in a full-season set? Instead, we have a compilation of the episodes deemed "most outrageous," and a "too raunchy for TV" episode, apparently added to attract attention. With all of the television shows being released season by season on DVD, I'm beginning to wonder why this one was overlooked.
Image and Sound As with the extras, Columbia hasn't really done much with the presentation. The fullframe picture looks respectably clean, with very little grain or speckle. Colors are also nicely saturated, with some slight bleed here and there. Contrast is wanting, however, and so is clarity, as the image exhibits a soft appearance. There is also some film grain apparent throughout. *** The sound, mastered in Dolby 2.0 Surround, isn't much of a thrill, either. This is mostly a dialogue-driven track that sounds clean enough, but doesn't take up any space in the rest of the soundfield, either.
The Extras Only some bonus trailers have been included here, the first of which is a promo spot for a Frank Sinatra CD, followed by the preview for "The Sweetest Thing," and an ad for more Columbia TV-DVD releases.
Commentary None
Final Words: Strictly for fans of the show, and even they will be disappointed.
