“Mission: Impossible Season 4”
Reviewer:
Taylor Carlson
Studio: Paramount
Genre: TV Series
Release:
5/13/08
Special Features: None
Review:

Mission: Impossible, which ran from 1966-1973, was the definitive “secret agent” television series. Over 4 decades later, things haven't changed. The series remains consistently popular, having clearly stood the test of time. ***

This 7-disc set contains all 26 episodes from the series' fourth season, which ran from 1969-1970. The episodes included are as follows: The Code, The Numbers Game, The Controllers Part 1, The Controllers Part 2, Fool's Gold, Commandante, Submarine, Mastermind, Robot, The Double Circle, The Brothers, Time Bomb, The Amnesiac, The Falcon Part 1, The Falcon Part 2, The Falcon Part 3, Chico, Gitano, Phantoms, Terror, Lover's Knot, Orpheus, The Crane, Death Squad, The Choice, and The Martyr. ***

There's no denying the greatness that is Mission: Impossible. With an all-stat cast that featured Peter Graves, Peter Lupus. Greg Morris, and starting with this season Leonard Nimoy, the sheer amount of talent compiled for the series stands as one of its finest assets. And who could forget Lalo Schifrin's classic title theme? ***

The fourth season is one of the finest the series had to offer, with some of the most intriguing and interesting storylines and episodes of the series, plus Leonard Nimoy's debut. No fan of the series should be without this set. --

Image And Sound: Paramount has clearly gone out of their way to make Mission: Impossible look as good as possible for its arrival on the DVD format. Despite the age of the source material, they have cleaned the image and the sound up nicely. It's great to see them go to such lengths to make the show look and sound good - especially considering how some companies will just slap a show on DVD with no remastering whatsoever. ---

Special Features:

This mission, should you choose to accept it, has no bonus material of any kind.

Final Words:

While I am disappointed by the lack of bonus material, the excellent image and sound on this release, plus the sheer excellence of the show itself, are more than enough reasons to recommend this set. Take it from me, this is a mission you should choose to accept.
