What Seinfeld curse? A big deal was made about how the
Seinfeld cast couldn’t get a successful show if it hit them.
The reality is that most sitcoms whether they have famous
or well know actors tank their first year anyway. So this
was all much to do about nothing. The play’s the thing.
Now that we’ve got our Shakespeare quotes out of the way
let’s move forward. ***
For those living under a rock, “Christine” isn’t about
a sex change nor is it recycling “Quantum Leap” (that was
“Journeyman” folks). Christine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) discovers
that her ex-husband is dating a younger woman with the same
first name. So not only has she been replaced but her ex
is robbing the cradle. Now she’s “Old” Christine and some
days she feels it as she tries to keep it together—work,
parenting and—horrors!—dating again. ---
Image & Sound:
Sporting a crisp looking anamorphic widescreen transfer
(1.78:1—perfect for your widescreen TVs), the show looks
extremely good with few flaws (some occasional compression
artifacts, soft images, etc.) with nice, clear sound. The
only thing that bugged me was the fact that there was no
chapter stop placed after the opening titles and I didn’t
realize it until I realized I’d missed 1/3 of the plot of
the second episode. ***
It should be noted that there are subtitles in English,
Chinese(!), Portuguese(!), French but no Spanish which is
curious since folks that speak Spanish make up a larger
proportion of the population than those that speak Portuguese
in this country. ---
