This combo DVD/CD set allows us to gaze lovingly at
Stevie Nicks as warbles Fleetwood Mac tunes mixed with solo
hits and a couple of new tracks-conspicuous by its absence
are any tracks from the never re-released "Buckingham/Nicks"
album (although Lindsay Buckingham has been threatened to
unleash this minor classic on the world again.I know it's
all talk).. Nicks whose voice is probably an acquired taste
(I've grown to like it although I used to think she sounded
like a goat in heat) provided a mystical balance of Lindsey
Buckingham's rock 'n' roll flights of fancy and Christine
McVie's earthy ballads. The reason for fans to have this
will be the DVD that accompanies the CD (or vice versa)
with videos for a variety of songs from Nicks' long career.
We get 13 videos all solo hits including the overwrought
video for "Edge of Seventeen", "Stand Back" and some that
I had never seen before (but then I tuned out the idiotic
chatter of MTV well over a decade ago). ---
Image & Sound:
Image quality varies quite a bit depending upon the
age of the source material and how it was shot. The older
videos look pretty decent but do have a bit of bleeding
and a number of sections where the images are soft. Audio
sounds fine in the remix for 5.1 ---

We get a voice over commentary by Nicks herself that
is engaging. Let's not forget the CD as well which is a
nice companion piece as some of the songs on the CD are
not duplicated on the DVD. We also get home video footage
of the making of the "Bella Donna" album that is a nice
plus in this set.

Final Words:
|
Although it isn't perfect, this
is a nice summary of Nicks' career both solo and with Fleetwood
Mac. Fans pining for that "Buckingham/Nicks" album which have
to keep doing just that as there are no tracks (nor any of
the demos that were created for the never recorded follow
up album) included. |
