Many fans of "The O.C." were disappointed with season
3 and most of the problems with the show had to do with
the characters that the writers and producers chose to focus
on. In fact the largest problem can be summarized with one
name-Oliver. It also didn't help that the season ended with
the death of a major character (and that the beans were
spilled before the episode aired by the actor). So has "The
O.C." already jumped the shark? Hard to say but there was
compelling evidence everywhere during the fourth season
of the show. Only die-hard fans stayed through out the entire
season while the rest of the U.S. yawned and turned to another
channel. ---
Image & Sound:
As with the previous sets from Warner the fourth season
of "The O.C." looks vibrant with vivid colors and extremely
good clarity. Audio sounds equally good although the use
of the surround channels probably could have been better
the overall sound of the show is quite effective. ---

We get a making-of- featurette on The Subways music
video, a featurette "What's In a Name?", "From Script to
Screen-The Party Favor" documenting the evolution of a single
episode, an amusing gag reel. We also get "Pass the Remote"
which is basically a way to use a piece meal group commentary
and make it sound like something other than what it is.
There are a number of other featurettes included but unfortunately
I wasn't able to do more than dip my toe in the water due
to time constraints to get this review posted.

Final Words:
|
"The O.C." lost its focus during
its third season and the twist of killing off a cast member
could have reenergized the show but surprisingly didn't do
so at all. Fans will enjoy some of the better storylines during
this season but it seemed as if the writers were confused
about what made this show such a popular series in the first
place. |
