Thank God Matthew Fox appeared on “Lost”. Otherwise
fans of this show might have waited quite a bit longer for
it to appear on DVD and without special features. The second
season of the show includes a nice roster of guest stars
including Carroll O’Connor, Kate Hudson, Patricia Heaton,
Danny Masterson and other actors that went on to greater
fame after this show was cancelled. A nice transfer with
colors that pop, “Party of Five” continues to look very
nice on DVD. The 2.0 Dolby Digital Surround Sound sounds
very good as well. ---

We get a couple of commentary
tracks as well as a nice retrospective featurette on the series
featuring Jennifer Love Hewitt. Hewitt discusses how she became
involved in the show. She also reveals that she had a crush
on Scott Wolf (they both appeared on a TV show when she was
11 years old). Primarily an interview with clips distributed
throughout the presentation, it’s a nice glimpse back into
the formative years of the show. There are also a number of
commentary tracks that provide quite a bit of trivia on the
show. None of them are what I would consider outstanding commentary
tracks but there are some nice tidbits that will keep the
show fresh for fans. --- |

Final Words:

A very nice presentation from
Sony, the second season of “Party of Five” finds the Salinger
family facing some new challenges. It’s a well written and
directed second season with a nice mix of commentary tracks
and a featurette/interview on the show with Jennifer Love
Hewitt. |
