"Rawhide: Season 2, Part 1"
Reviewer:
Wayne Klein
Studio: Paramount Home Video
Genre: TV-Series
Release:
5/15/07
Special Features: None
Review:

I hate when studios do this. I understand the economics of it but it is annoying for fans who are willing to shell out a larger sum for the TV shows. Evidently the first season of "Rawhide" didn't sell that well. Considering the age of the show, I'm not surprised but I am happy to report that CBS/Paramount is still releasing the series.

We get 16 episodes from season 2 of the show:

Incident of the Day of the Dead 9/18/1959

Incident at Dangerfield Dip 10/2/1959

Incident of the Shambling Man 10/9/1959

Incident at Jacob's Well 10/16/1959

Incident of the Thirteenth Man 10/23/1959

Incident at the Buffalo Smokehouse 10/30/1959

Incident of the Haunted Hills 11/6/1959

Incident of the Stalking Death 11/13/1959

Incident of the Valley in Shadow 11/20/1959

Incident of the Blue Fire 12/11/1959

Incident at Spanish Rock 12/18/1959

Incident of the Druid's Curse 1/8/1960

Incident at Red River Station 1/15/1960

Incident of the Devil and His Due 1/22/1960

Incident of the Wanted Painter 1/29/1960

Incident at Tinker's Dam 2/5/1960

Image & Sound:

The second season looks surprisingly good considering the age of the show. There is a bit of dirt debris that shows up now and again but overall CBS/Paramount has done a very good job of cleaning up the show for DVD presentation. Luckily, the show was shot on film and not early videotape otherwise the quality would be significantly worse that what we get. Audio sounds fine. ---

Special Features:

None

Final Words:

Fans will be happy to be getting even part of the second season however will probably be frustrated with having to wait for the second half of the second season. When shows are released like this though there is usually a pretty short wait between split sets.
