The newest dark comedy from BBC Films is "Scoop." The
story is that of a college journalist who is handed one
delicious news scoop, thus the name. She must choose true
love or the break of a lifetime. With just enough to keep
you questioning the innocence of Peter (Hugh Jackman), a
suave socialite. ****
Scarlett Johanson and Woody Allen might produce a few
chuckles throughout the movie, but not enough to carry the
movie as a comedy. With Hollywood heavyweights making up
most of the cast,"Scoop" was disappointing as a comedy but
kept me hanging as a mystery. They threw in a few quirky
clues and really left you with a huge twist. With all questions
answered in the end it leaves you saying, "Wow, did that
really happen?"
Image and Sound:
With an average storyline that doesn't really call for
any Special effects, "Scoop" is nothing Special in the picture
department. Although the sound is a different story. With
London as the setting you might expect overpowering accents,
but these stars kept it low key and made it easy to follow
the story.
