Some of you reading this were born the year that “The
Simpsons” debuted. Hard to believe, isn’t it? It’s been
a rocky road at times for “The Simpsons” but as the longest
consistently running prime time animated series the creators
and producers of the show have set a pretty high bar for
any other animated series to jump over. We get 21 episodes
including the classic perennial “Treehouse of Horror”. What’s
amazing about “The Simpsons” is that, in many respects,
it’s like a funhouse mirror version of every other popular
sitcom involving a dysfunctional family. ***
Image & Sound:
As with previous seasons “The Simpsons” looks quite
good in its home video debut the Blu-ray allows the color
to pop and the series has remarkably good graphics that
are faithfully reproduced here. ***
Audio sounds fine with a nice lossless surround mix.
While it doesn’t make maximum usage of the format the audio
mixers do a nice job of keeping dialogue front and center
nicely complimenting the dialogue with sound effects and
ambient sounds. --
