As a double-dip “Tarzan: Special Edition” isn’t all
that special after all. Originally touted as a two disc
set, Disney elected to eliminate a disc when they finally
released the movie (the reasons are, to me, unclear as it
would have duplicated the “Special Edition” from a couple
of years ago). I don’t want to call this a faithful adaptation
but it’s closer than some other films that have been made
of Edgar Rice Burroughs’ tale. Needless to say, it’s lighthearted
compared to most adult entertainment although the beginning
for all its comic moments is quite suspenseful. Image quality
is outstanding as is the 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround soundtrack.

A commentary track by the film’s
directors, we get a trio of three new games that don’t add
up to much as well as deleted scenes and an alternate opening
sequence for the movie. The inclusion of a new music video
and older music videos for the film may or may not be all
that special. |

Final Words:

If you bought the previous single
disc edition or the double disc, this isn’t worth buying again.
