Review:

With each season this show keeps getting better and better. Season 5 is full of crazy moments and fun guest stars. The season begins with Donna coming home to Wisconsin to mend her relationship with Eric. Unfortunately for Donna, Eric is on his way to find her in California to do that very thing. These star crossed lovers make amends but the whole season is doomed to conspire to keep them apart. Kelso spends the summer with a "girl so hot she could be a robot" named Annette (Jessica Simpson). Her only flaw is that she doesn't put out, and in Kelso world, that is a major flaw.****

Back at home Jackie and Hyde have started to fool around. At first they sneak around but are quickly discovered by Donna and Eric. Hyde tries to man up and tell Kelso but has a flash of compassion and doesn't want to hurt his feelings. Of course Kelso finds out anyway in the worst possible way (he sees them kissing) and goes bananas in a fit of jealousy. He gets over it and tries to move on, but when Jackie sees Kelso kissing Annette she repays his erratic behavior and tries to rip Annette's hair out. In the end Jackie has to decide who it is she wants to be with.****

Season 5 is a big one for foreign exchange student Fez as well. He starts up a relationship with Nina from the DMV and finally loses his virginity. Fez becomes too involved in the emotional lovey dovey stuff and proves to be too needy for Nina and the relationship is doomed to fail. Don't forget the pregnancy scare for Red and Kitty and great guest spots from Betty White, Seth Green and Jack Osbourne. This show only gets better with age.

Image and Sound: This series has a good transfer to DVD. The series episodes are released in a full screen format, same as on the TV. Only 2.1 digital surround sound but for a comedy series that is all you need.

Special Features:

Only a few features in this set. There are episode promos which is exactly what is says, brief clips of each episode. There is "A 70's Flashback" with Wilmer Valderamma and Danny Masterson (Fez and Hyde) with some back knowledge of prior seasons. Fes(z), ironically stands for foreign exchange student. To round it out there is a "Season 5 in 5 minutes" featurette with the cast and crew.

Final Words:

If you like the previous four seasons then you will like this season equally as well. The getting high antics of up and coming actors Ashton Kutcher and Topher Grace will crack you up. The clothes were terrible and the hair was scary, but watching and reliving these episodes makes me appreciate what a good time my parents must have had before I was born.
