"Third Watch" or as many fans who lost track of the
show once it got bounced around in the schedule (I guess
it could be called "Who Watched" as the show had a devoted
following, did decently in the ratings but many fans lost
track of the show) lasting six seasons and, in many respects,
taking cop/paramedic dramas (such as "Emergency!") and tweaking
it with the "E.R." touch. Produced by John Wells ("The West
Wing", "E.R."), the show featured a top notch cast such
as Kim Raver ("24"), writing, directing and producing staff
the series focuses on a fictional Police Precinct nicknamed
"Camelot" and the men and women who risk their lives to
save others. ---
Image & Sound:
Fans will find this easy to watch--the transfer although
not flawless--looks extremely good with solid blacks and
nice image clarity and sharpness. Audio sounds quite nice
with a nice stereo presentation.

"The Nights of Camelot" is a fifteen minute featurette
focusing on the creation and development of the series.
Featuring plenty of interviews with cast, production crew
and creative talent, it's a solid entry. ***
We also get an amusing gag reel from the first season.
I'm hoping that as we get more seasons of the show we'll
continue to get featurettes, deleted scenes, gag reels and,
perhaps, a couple of commentary tracks but I wouldn't count
on it.

Final Words:
|
A terrific show that I caught
only during its first two seasons, "Third Watch" is a well
produced, written, directed and acted show that initially
benefited from its placement behind "E.R.". Like lots of shows
that had strong shows in front of them, "Third Watch" benefited
and captured an interested audience unlike most shows, though,
"Third Watch" deserved the acclaims, Emmys and accolades it
received during its six year run. |
