The Avengers continue their battle with the Chitari
in this direct-to-video animated sequel to “The Ultimate
Avengers” DVD released in February. When the Chitari invade
the hidden African nation of Wakanda to obtain more vibranium
(the alloy that the aliens use to make their ships and weapons)
the king of the nation dons his Black Panther costume to
defend them against the invaders. When the king is killed
his son T’Challa is forced to don the costume and fight
for his people. Meanwhile Nick Fury sends the Avengers in
on a fact finding mission to Wakanda to find out what the
Chitari are up to there. Ultimately T’Challa asks the Avengers
for his help in fighting the aliens which plan on using
his nation as a stepping stone to world domination. ***
This well animated and made sequel to “The Ultimate
Avengers” may lack the spark of the first movie but still
manages to entertain with its brief 73 minute running time.
The animation although not as smooth as in the first film
is detailed and recreates the look of the original comic
pretty well. The voice acting is dynamic and memorable.
Image & Sound:
A very nice transfer “UA2” looks extremely good here
with nice use made of the surround speakers particularly
during the action sequences. Overall the presentation is
very nice with minimal digital artifacts. ---
