| Review:

The second season of “The Unit” continued the break
neck pace that has made this series so popular among viewers.
Focusing on one team of U.S. Army Special Forces Unit who
end up fighting terrorism on covert missions, the show has
a top notch cast and well written/directed scripts that
keep the show involving. The show also focuses on the toll
the Unit’s secret work has on their families and friends.
The cast includes Dennis Haysbert, Robert Patrick, Regina
Taylor, Scott Foley. ---
Image & Sound:
A very nice transfer from Fox with bright colors and
no dirt or grit (not a surprise given that this is a new
show) is a highlight of the set. Audio sounds terrific as
well with a strong 5.1 audio track that works very well
particularly during action sequences.

We get eight commentary tracks featuring cast member
Dennis Haysbert, writer-producer Scott Foley, director Bill
L. Norton and others. All of them are pretty interesting.
***
“Paradise Lost: The Making of the Season 2 Finale”
highlights one of the best episodes of the season. We get
plenty of behind-the-scenes interviews and production footage
showing how the show was conceived and executed. ***
“Mission: The Making of Sub-Conscious” provides similar
background on a top notch episode as well. ***
“Dark of the Moon: Weapons” shows us how much detail
goes into the weapons work on the show focusing on the title
episode. ---

Final Words:
|
“The Unit” is an intense, involving
series that has received a top notch transfer and extras from
Fox. Given the success of the show (it doesn’t rank up there
with “Lost” but scores respectably in the ratings), I’m pleasantly
surprised we get so much background material on the production
of the series. |
