“Veronica Mars Season-1”
Reviewer:
Wayne A. Klein
Studio: Warner
Genre: Drama
Release:
10/25/05
Special Features: Alternate opening sequence, extended pilot episode and 20 minutes of unaired scenes
Review:

Leave it to this hip modern day Nancy Drew to keep viewers in suspense during last year’s so-so TV season. The first season of “Veronica Mars” introduced viewers to a show that threw in elements of “Buffy”, “Twin Peaks” and wrapped them all in a warm fuzzy post modern robe of drama. Veronica (Kristen Bell) is a high school student who tries to discover who killed her best friend Lilly (Amanda Seyfried). This larger mystery looms in the background as she solves smaller ones throughout theseason with the help of her father Keith (Enrico Colantoni) the former sheriff of the town. This boxed set includes all 22 episodes from the first season. The show looks extremely good with a nice crisp, sharp transfer and rich colors. ---

Special Features: An extended pilot episode and deleted scenes are the main highlight here as well as an alternate opening for the show.

Final Words:

A fascinating series that takes Nancy Drew and updates it for the 21st century, “Veronica Mars” doesn’t come with all the bells and whistles one has come to expect for recent DVD releases. The show, however, is worth revisiting and this fine set from Warner features a nice transfer of the series to DVD.
