"Walker-Texas Ranger: The Complete Second Season"
Reviewer:
Wayne Klein
Studio: Paramount/CBS Home Video
Genre: TV-Series
Release:
1/23/07
Special Features: None
Review:

The fun of "Walker: Texas Ranger" was the element of pure evil and pure good fighting it out. Whether Walker is chasing someone practicing a bizarre form of conservative vigilante justice as in "Mean Streets" where rich kids execute homeless folks for nothing more than being on the street or whether it be Walker trying to get some porn filmmakers to come clean so he can solve a murder the show is pretty black and white which allows you to root for the good guys and hiss the villains. ---

Image & Sound:

Unlike the first season (which was much, much shorter), we get a full season of episodes here. The transfer looks nice with bright colors although some of the darker scenes have compression artifacts visible. Clarity is sharp. The audio was presented on TV in 2.0 Dolby Digital stereo and that's how it's presented here. It sounds quite good with some nice separation particularly during action sequences or sections where we have a lively musical score. ---

Special Features:

As dry and arid as the desert sections of Texas, "Walker" comes without any special features. A commentary track from star Chuck Norris would haven been nice. Also, what about including any network or affiliate promos that were produced for the series?

Final Words:

Overall "Walker" looks quite good for its age. There's an occasional wrinkle in the form of a compression artifact but overall the series will please fans. The show is presented in its original full screen aspect ratio but sadly sans extras.
