Chuck Norris returns for another season of Walker:
Texas Ranger. With its share of straight-up action and simplistic
(but no less effective) plot, the show has won over millions
in several nations - and to this day, even after its cancellation,
still has a cult following. ***
Paramount strangely released the final season of the
show first, but has now gone back to release the remaining
seasons in the proper airing orders. In other words, the
fourth season is actually the fifth to get a DVD release.
***
The plot is essentially the same as earlier seasons.
Chuck Norris portrays Walker, an officer of the centuries-old
Texas Rangers law enforcement agency. It's a series in which
good and evil aren't too hard to tell apart - and Walker
lets his fists and boots do the talking. The modern-day
western lasted for nine seasons, no doubt because of it
being such an easy show to follow - and not sacrificing
complexity at the price of entertainment. ***
The seven-disc set contains every episode from the
show's now-classic fourth season.
Episodes included are as follows: Blown Apart, Deep
Cover, The Guardians, Collision Course, Point After, Evil
In The Night, Final Justice, The Lynching, Whitewater (Two-Parter),
The Covenant, Rodeo, Flashpoint, Break In, The Return Of
LaRue, The Juggernaut, El Coyote (Two-Parter), The Avenger,
Behind The Badge, Blackout, Deadline, The Siege, The Moscow
Connection, Miracle At Middle Creek, Hall Of Fame ---
Image And Sound:
The audio and visual qualities of the set stay true
to what you've come to expect in earlier sets. Video quality
is usually excellent, with issues only arising during scenes
that have excessive darkness or too much fast-paced action
on the screen. As with earlier season sets, some episodes
are of different video quality than others, implying that
they may have been pulled from a different source. I had
no issues with the audio quality - it sounds as good now
as when the show first aired.
