This documentary on the Vietnam War.no on the war on
terrorism. Oh wait, sorry this is a comedy series that has
somehow managed to survive more than one season. In this
day and age a show that The parents in this family sitcom
were pretty wild as teenagers and find themselves having
to deal with their own teenagers now. Dave (Michael Rappaport)
and Vicky (Anita Barone) have to contend with their three
teenagers; 15 year old Larry (Kyle Sullivan) who isn't exactly
Mr. Popular at school, 16 year old Hillary (Kaylee Defer)
entering the twilight zone of dating and a makes talking
back into an art form and 13 year old Mike (Dean Collins)
who's hormones are raging. The gimmick that sells the show
is the fact that we're able to go inside the family's heads
through the use of a "confessional space" where every literally
speaks their mind. I have to be honest here-this show is
an acquired taste. I wasn't one of those who actually enjoyed
the series. After two seasons the show was cancelled by
Fox (just before the DVD release as a matter of fact). ---
Image & Sound:
The DVD looks far from war-torn with a nice, sharp
and crisp transfer. The anamorphic transfer looks good with
nice natural skin tones. Audio sounds solid as well. We
get 22 episodes 30 minute episodes spread out over three
discs as a result there's little of the compression artifacts
one might see from putting too much information on a single
disc. ---

Features: |
The three special features we get are decent with the
highlight being "Living Room Confessions" where the cast
and creative crew discuss their characters, the situations
they face as a "family" and various episodes from the first
season. We also get a gag reel (which curiously always seem
less funny for comedies than dramas) and deleted scenes.

Final Words:
|
Fans of this series may want
to pull out their helmets, throw on their backpacks and dig
trenches for this comedic war-zone. The series comes with
some nice extras as well. |
