I have to admit up front I’m not a fan of Yanni’s brand
of instrumental easy listening/soft jazz style. So my familiarity
with Yanni, is limited to what I’ve heard my older brother
play for me to try and impress me. So let me up front here
I respect his musicianship but have no interest in his music
whatsoever. This is the type of stuff that my dentist’s
office plays to relax people (it actually makes me MORE
nervous but perhaps that’s because I’m anticipating the
worst because they are trying to lull me into a false sense
of security before that drill bit comes down). As a result
I’m going to focus on the quality of the video, sound but
not the performance. *** I’ve admitted to you that I have
absolutely no appreciation for Yanni and his music but I
do have to say after watching the video I am impressed with
the amount of work that goes into presenting one of his
shows. It’s clear that the man cares about his music, audience
and presentation so he makes sure that the production is
top notch and that’s also true of the video we have here.
*** The track selection includes; “Standing in Motion”,
“Rainmaker”, Keys to Imagination”, “Enchantment”, “On Sacred
Ground”, “Playtime”, “Until The Last Moment”, “If I Could
Tell You”, “For All Seasons”, “The Storm” “Prelude”, “Nostalgia”,
“World Dance”.
Image & Sound:
“Yanni-Live” looks quite good with nice vibrant, rich
colors and exceptionally good clarity. The audio sounds
terrific regardless of whether you’re listening to it in
5.1, dts Digital Surround or Dolby stereo. I have to give
the edge to the dts mix as it sounds warmer and has vibrancy
missing from the 5.1 mix and the stereo soundtrack. Regardless
of which track you listen to though you’ll have a remarkable
experience.
